Novent® Locking Caps

One simple screw-on installation. Dual protection.

Novent Locking CapsInstant, inexpensive protection - Patented Novent Locking caps seal standard Schraeder service valves on all central AC units and minisplits.

  • Integral neoprene O-ring enhances seal and resists oils and chemicals.
  • Integral torque limiter prevents overtightening.
  • Resists crushing and removal without key.
  • Corrosion resistant.
  • Selection of installation tools available.

Gas intoxication protection - Novent caps lock. Caps are precision machined from high-grade brass and surrounded by a protective aluminum shroud making it difficult to access the refrigerant. Special tools are required to apply or remove the caps.

Gas mixing protection - Novent caps are embossed and color coded. Proper installation safeguards against accidental mixing of refrigerant gases in AC systems.

Novent Locking Caps

NOVENTĀ® IRC & IMC compliant color coded refrigerant protection

Novent Locking CapsIt's in the code - Effective February 2009 the International Mechanical Code and International Residential Code now require that all outdoor access ports on AC refrigerant circuits be made tamper resistant.

International Mechanical Code 1101.10 - Locking access port caps. "Refrigerant circuit access ports located outdoors shall be fitted with locking-type tamper resistant caps."

Why? Misuse of refrigerant gas has come into sharp focus within the last few years due to reports of injury/fatality related to the venting and inhalation of the toxic refrigerant gases from AC systems and storage tanks containing refrigerant gas. The Novent locking cap system was developed as a simple yet effective way to deter misuse, reduce venting and energy loss, provided protection from serious injury or liability and meet the new industry code.
